Career options you can pursue as a nail technician

Nail Technicians provide manicures, pedicures, and other various nail treatments depending on the needs of a client's nail care and their preferences. They are usually self-employed or work in salons, spas, barbershops, or nail salons. A career as a nail technician can be a great choice with many advancement opportunities. A growing number of positions in nail tech are just a few reasons that being a manicure and pedicurist makes sense.

The following are career options you can pursue as a nail technician:

Beautician

A beautician conducts general cosmetic or aesthetic services, including makeup, hairstyling, manicures and pedicures. Beauticians can provide skincare treatments and nail technician services. Other services include hair washing and blow drying.

Aesthetician

An aesthetician is a cosmetology professional who specialises in skin care. Aestheticians can work within salons or spas to provide skin treatments and advice for clients. They perform skin assessments, recommend treatments and products and monitor skin health post-treatment.

Consultant

A beauty consultant represents a particular brand and provides customers with recommendations to complete a sale. Beauty consultants meet with customers to understand what they look for in a product or service. These consultants may demonstrate products to customers or provide them with a product sample to try before purchase.

Beauty Blogger

Beauty blogging is big business – but it does not happen overnight. If you want to become a big name in the nail industry, this could be a great career path for you. Nail enthusiasts and bloggers share wisdom, tutorials and fun videos with their fans and reap financial benefits in return.

Salon Receptionist

A salon receptionist works at the front desk of salons to greet, check-in and complete sales for clients. They handle administrative responsibilities such as scheduling, answering phones, providing information and completing general maintenance tasks. Salon receptionists communicate with clients and salon staff to ensure that the daily operations of the salon run smoothly and efficiently.
